Acclaimed composer and songwriter Julia Holter has announced 'Materia', a seven-track companion release that revisits and extends the creative universe established by her celebrated 2024 album 'Something in the Room She Moves'.
Arriving alongside the announcement is the radiant new single 'Fantasy', a track that showcases Holter’s remarkable ability to balance intimacy and experimentation. Built around her unmistakable voice and a gradually unfolding arrangement, the song drifts between anticipation and uncertainty, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that feels both immersive and emotionally immediate.
The accompanying video, directed by Dicky Bahto in collaboration with Holter, further amplifies the song’s surreal qualities through a collage of fleeting images, symbolic gestures, and personal touches that blur the boundaries between memory, imagination, and reality.
'Materia' brings together newly written material, fresh interpretations of earlier compositions, and songs developed during the sessions surrounding 'Something in the Room She Moves'.
