Upstate New York songwriter Michael Wu closes the chapter on his debut EP with 'The Other Side', a thoughtful, jangly indie cut that resists easy answers.
Serving as both the final single and title-track for the new collection, the song distills the project’s central theme of exploring the quiet ways people drift from the present. Rather than offering resolution, he leans into ambiguity, exploring the tension between longing for something more and recognising the cost of constantly looking ahead.
Musically, it’s rooted in chiming guitar lines and understated arrangements, with clear echoes of R.E.M. and Johnny Marr woven into its DNA. The production, shaped alongside John Carter, allows his restrained vocal delivery to carry the emotional weight without overstatement.
