The Murder Capital share new single 'A Distant Life'

With just over a week until the release of their third album 'Blindness' on Friday 21st February, The Murder Capital unveil one final preview with their new single 'A Distant Life'.

Following their spellbinding live session on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music show last night, the track sees the Dublin five-piece at their loosest and most melodic, swinging with an easy rhythm and capturing the band’s most carefree side yet.

Reflecting on the track, frontman James McGovern shares, “I wrote the lyrics for this one in transit to one of the many inspiring service stops on tour in the UK. I’d been listening to a podcast called Poetry Unbound about Margaret Atwood’s poem ‘All Bread’ and felt the urge to write.

"I knew I wanted the music to be naive and unaffected, much like true love itself, so myself and Irv stood outside the back of the venue in Liverpool that evening. I asked him to play two chords back and forth. It all came together in a flash with some added flair from Irv, and in that moment the distance between my girlfriend and I shrunk slightly, if just for a moment.”

The release follows the success of their previous single 'Words Lost Meaning', which recently landed on the BBC 6 Music A-list, reinforcing the widespread support the band continues to receive from the station. Have a listen to 'A Distant Life' in the player below.
