Slow Club - 'One Day All Of This Won't Matter Anymore'

6/10

Following their much-praise 2014 album 'Complete Surrender', the new wave duo Slow Club have returned in good health to deliver their fourth studio album 'One Day All Of This Won't Matter Anymore'. And while the title may be a bit of a mouthful, the record certainly isn't as the band have looked to deliver a more subdued sound this time around.

While Slow Club have hardly been the more energetic of bands, their sound thus far has usually been a mix of powerful tunes backed by an impressive production. But this time it seems they have opted for a more simple sound, stripping back much of the backdrop and leaving just the voices of the two members Rebecca Taylor and Charles Watson to carry the record. It is certainly a stark contrast to what we were expecting but yet still manages to create a pleasant journey nonetheless.

And although much of the record seems to stick to this incredibly slow pace, there is still enough interest within the songs to keep them engaging, just. On the whole, it is far from their best work but still puts out the odd flurry of brilliance here and there.
