XINIX - 'VISIONARY'

7/10

There’s a certain kind of debut album that demands your full and undivided attention, and with his new LP 'VISIONARY,' XINIX arrives as a fully-formed force, dragging us into a world that feels volatile, immersive, and impossible to ignore.

From the opening moments of 'THE SKY IS FALLING', the record establishes a stark atmosphere. Mechanical textures grind against distorted rhythms, while fractured beats pulse with an almost industrial urgency. It’s a soundscape that feels truly unpredictable, shifting between precision and chaos in a way that keeps you constantly on edge.

But what makes 'VISIONARY' so compelling is its sense of movement. The early stages feel almost claustrophobic, as if you’re being pulled into a collapsing environment. But as the album progresses, something begins to change. The tension gives way to moments of clarity that feel earned rather than given.

Vocally, XINIX operates in that same space between control and release. There are moments of near-spoken intensity, where every word lands with purpose, followed by bursts of raw energy that feel almost uncontainable. It’s this push and pull that gives the project a sense of never settling, yet always shifting.

Throughout the release, elements of industrial grit collide with electronic propulsion and hip-hop’s rhythmic backbone, while flashes of punk energy cut through the mix with sharp precision. It’s a blend that feels deliberately unpolished in places, embracing rough edges rather than smoothing them out; and that choice gives the album its identity, even at its most mechanical.

At its core, 'VISIONARY' is about evolution in the messy, unpredictable way it actually happens. There’s frustration here, introspection, and ultimately a sense of rebuilding. For a debut album, it’s remarkably assured as XINIX constructs an entire universe and invites you to step inside. And once you do, it’s hard to look away.
