Z.M.A - 'Kingdom'

7/10

Over these last few months, LA-based duo Z.M.A have been quick to establish themselves as one of the more enigmatic names on the rise right now. Continuing their ascent with their much-loved offering 'Mission To Mars' earlier this year, the pair have made their mark as true innovators within the new music scene recently. And with that buzz surrounding them continuing to grow, they are now looking to cement their recent legacy with their hotly-tipped new album 'Kingdom', a record that puts their genre-bending ways front and centre.

Much like what their latest effort showcased, 'Kingdom' looks to present itself as a broad and immersive listen throughout. Taking cues from 80s electro-pop, industrial aesthetics, alt-R&B and so much more, this thirteen-track collection makes for an incredibly rich and absorbing listen from beginning to end. Delving deep into their identity to conjure this wildly progressive flow, Z.M.A not only build upon their vibrant direction of late, but push it to its outer limits, resulting in a truly distinctive and inventive listening experience at every turn.

It has been an innovative ride for them recently, but 'Kingdom' delivers a wonderfully expressive aura that very few manage to hone. Moving with this subtle elegance from track to track, Z.M.A remain one of the more compelling names on the rise right now.

This year was my first time at The Isle Of Wight Festival, and I was pleasantly surprised.
