Houston rock outfit Angry Joe and the Holy Socks continue to carve out their place in the alternative rock landscape with the release of their emotionally charged new single 'I’ll Run Away'.
Blending hazy atmospherics with soaring melodies and introspective songwriting, the track captures a band unafraid to confront memory, struggle, and the desire for escape. Drawing comparisons to Counting Crows and The Lemonheads, the single balances melancholy with a sense of release, wrapped in layered guitars and subtle orchestral textures.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has been inspiring them most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
Electric guitar
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
Anything that made me feel something- Oasis, Stone Temple Pilots, Counting Crows, Nirvana, The Beatles, and Soundgarden.
What was the first album you remember owning?
(What’s the Story) Morning Glory? -Oasis
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
Helter Skelter – The Beatles
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
Not really. Sometimes the chords come first, sometimes the lyrics, and occasionally the entire song comes all at once. All the magic happens in the studio though- that’s where the songs really take shape and show their true character and nature.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
Scott Weiland, Chris Cornell, Noel Ghallagher, and George Harrison to name a few. Recently I have been listening to a lot of Gin Blossoms, The Jayhawks, David Bowie, Hall and Oates, and Alan Jackson.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
Noel Ghallagher’s High Flying Birds
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
When fans tell us that they drove hours to come see our show, it makes me feel like our songs are helping them through whatever difficulties they are facing.
And what is the most frustrating part?
There are frustrations around writing and composing, getting all parts to match stylistically in the studio, practicing our instruments, and the list could go on and on. Honestly though, none of it really feels frustrating because we always find a way. We love music.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
“Do it for you.” -Ray Earnst
