A$AP Rocky - 'AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP'

6/10

After exploding onto the scene back in 2011 with his mixtape 'Live.Love.A$AP', A$AP Rocky, and by extension the A$AP Mob, has become one of the cornerstones of modern day hip-hop. His electrifying debut album 'Long.Live.A$AP' made him a household name thanks to the crossover appeal of his Skrillex collaboration 'Wild For The Night', but now onto album number two, the MC is looking to solidify his own legacy within the genre.

Packed with an incredible and varied group of guest artists including Kanye West, M.I.A., Mos Def, Lil Wayne, Danger Mouse and Mark Ronson, 'At.Long.Last.A$AP' sees the rapper take on more of RnB influence as the high tempo and power of his previous work seems to have dulled on this new record. While some of the tracks still have that initial A$AP bite, much of the release sees Rocky explore a more low-key direction that helps the flow and diction within his more personal lyrics.

But while his intentions do seem honest, the result isn't what you would expect. Half of the album does fall a little short of its intended mark and doesn't stand up to the quality we have seen from this rapper before. Excellent in parts but far from being a completed release.
