Rising punk quartet THE NONE are back with their most urgent release yet: a ferocious double-sided 7” featuring lead single ‘At Hope’ and B-side ‘In Civic Pride’, out June 20 via ZENNOR Records. Limited to just 250 hand-numbered vinyl copies, the release follows two acclaimed self-released EPs, 'MATTER' and 'CARE', in the past year.
‘At Hope’ delivers blistering riffs and razor-sharp social commentary, drawing influence from the likes of Touch and Go and Dischord Records while firmly rooted in today’s political and economic landscape. Vocalist Kai Whyte takes aim at the language of neoliberalism, inspired by a U.S. proposal to replace the term “at risk” with “at hope” when referring to children in poverty. The result is a searing takedown of policy sanitisation and class-washing optimism.
Shot in Birmingham by director Tim Mobbs, the video for 'At Hope' highlights the city’s ongoing bin workers’ strike, making the perfect visual accompaniment to a track rooted in the grit and resilience of working-class struggle.
