Bloc Party have unveiled ‘Now We Can’t Be Friends’, the latest preview of their forthcoming album 'Anatomy Of A Brief Romance', arriving on the 11th September via the band's newly launched label, cOnTAGIOUS LTD.
Produced by legendary hitmaker Trevor Horn, the new record charts the emotional rise and fall of frontman Kele Okereke's deeply personal love story, unfolding track by track from the excitement of unexpected romance to heartbreak, acceptance and, ultimately, healing. ‘Now We Can’t Be Friends’ captures one of the album's most poignant moments, documenting the painful realisation that a relationship has truly come to an end.
Built around icy synthesiser lines and Bloc Party's unmistakable blend of post-punk urgency and electronic textures, the single finds Okereke reflecting on the emotional distance that follows a breakup. Set against the backdrop of a nightclub encounter with a former partner, the track balances vulnerability with quiet resilience, serving as a reminder that even the deepest heartbreak eventually fades.
