Circa Waves announce new album 'Death & Love Pt.2'

Liverpool indie heavyweights Circa Waves have officially announced 'Death & Love Pt.2', the second installment of their ambitious two-part album series, set for release on the 24th October via Lower Third/[PIAS].

Leading the charge is their shimmering new single 'Cherry Bomb', a laid-back, slacker indie anthem reminiscent of early Strokes swagger. Brimming with freeform verses and anchored by a sweetly catchy chorus, frontman Kieran Shuddall describes it as “a song about that person who would do anything for you — jump into a fight, buy you a beer when you’re down, keep you grounded. We all need a cherry bomb in our life.”

'Death & Love Pt.1', released in January, captured Shuddall’s raw reckoning with mortality following a 2023 health scare that saw him undergo emergency heart surgery. In contrast, Pt.2 emerges as the optimistic, euphoric counterpoint. “If the first record was before the operation — about fear and facing death — this one is about coming through the other side,” Shuddall explains. “It’s about love, life, survival, and pure euphoria.”

Produced by Shuddall himself and recorded between a friend’s studio in Finsbury Park and the legendary RAK studios in London (where he had a surreal run-in with Billie Joe Armstrong), the two sister records channel a powerful sense of rebirth and creative explosion.
