Descendents - 'Hypercaffium Spazzinate'

8/10

Having been twelve years since the last Descendents' record, we assumed that the Californian punk outfit had given up on any new material, but how wrong we were. The veteran group return with their seventh studio album and first since 2004's 'Cool To Be You', and it seems from the off that these guys haven't lost their edge at all.

While you may have worked out from the title, 'Hypercaffium Spazzinate' is certainly fast-paced to say the least. These guys may now be well into their 50s but they definitely aren't slowing down in their golden years, as this record has the same tenacity and vigour as any other punk album you'll hear this year. The band clearly still love what they do and it shows throughout this new release.

And with a quick running time of just under half an hour, 'Hypercaffium Spazzinate' packs twelve years of built up energy into one explosive release. Forget any other comeback you've heard so far, this one tops the lot.
