Striding out of Texas with a renewed sense of purpose, David Moore and Westridge return with their latest single ‘Mysteries of Life’, a powerful, nostalgia-soaked rock release rooted in memory, friendship, and legacy. The track arrives as part of Moore’s forthcoming tribute album 'A Wink Is As Good As A Nod To A Blind Mule', dedicated to his late lifelong friend and collaborator Jim Patterson.
Originally part of the setlist for their 80s band Chaser, the single carries renewed weight. Moore painstakingly reconstructed vintage drum parts from archival recordings to honour the late Wayne Jarvis, while Jay Michael Smith (The Speaker Wars) recreated Jim Patterson’s guitar lines with uncanny authenticity. Featuring vocals from Ralph Galetti and mastered by Jeff Lowes (OTR Mastering), the track feels like a carefully assembled tribute that keeps old bandmates alive through sound. Influenced by the golden era of 60s and 70s rock, Moore channels decades of admiration into a release that feels timeless yet intimate.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
Guitar
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
Classic rock
What was the first album you remember owning?
Led Zeppelin III & Santana’s first album.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
No, pretty much serendipity…it just happens.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
I don’t listen to a lot of music because I am so busy, however when I have lately it has been early ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Fastball…all bands out of Texas.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
That’s a long list, however most notably Led Zeppelin or Fastball.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
Since I work both sides of the glass, it is always a thrill when I can take an early inception or idea for a song and have the final version be something I am proud of. Plus meeting new people and working with other artists ranks up there in the rewarding category as well.
And what is the most frustrating part?
I don’t consider it frustrating, however trying to meet self-imposed deadlines while balancing non-music related issues in everyday life can be a little taxing. Probably the other thing most artists face these days is just the issue of trying to be heard through all the new music being continually dropped.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
Actually it is my advice to myself…“do it because you love it”, the end result is its own reward…
