Moroccan producer Guedra Guedra, the dynamic electronic project of Abdellah M. Hassak, has announced his debut LP 'MUTANT', arriving on the 29th August on Domino’s Smugglers Way imprint. Now he offers a new taste of the record with the hypnotic single 'Paradigm'.
Inspired by the traditional chants of the Maasai tribes of Kenya and Tanzania, 'Paradigm' layers aquatic synth chords and propulsive 4/4 kicks with mesmerising call-and-response vocals. “Percussion plays a central role in Maasai music,” Hassak explains. “In ‘Paradigm,’ it is recreated through body slaps and organic textures, evoking communal dances and rituals while infusing a contemporary dynamic.”
The track arrives alongside a striking visualiser by Sophie Koko, adding to its immersive energy.
'Paradigm' follows first single 'Drift of Drummer', which earned praise from The New York Times and Clash for its evolving, polyrhythmic textures. Watch the visuals in the player below.
