Leonian Dream - 'Leonian Dream'

7/10

Throughout much of 2024, Devon-based duo Leonian Dream established themselves as one of the more exciting names arriving on the scene. With notable comparisons to the likes of Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, and Annie Hamilton, their knack for raw and emotive indie-rock caught the attention of countless tastemakers and cemented them as true innovators on the rise. And with so much buzz behind them already, they return for the new year to deliver their hotly-tipped self-titled debut EP, a collection that looks to harness their progressive direction to date.

Featuring a heady mix of previous releases, including 'Hide', 'Greenhouse' and 'Gloomy Room', this four-track collection looks to shine a light on some of their more impactful material so far. Focusing more on the swaggering and sultry grooves their repertoire has earned a reputation for, 'Leonian Dream' makes for a beautifully rich and tender listen, while still managing to pack plenty of bite when it needs it. The subtle mix of shimmering vocals and driven guitar hooks has been a solid staple of their sound to date, and this new EP sees them push that aesthetic further forward once again.

It has already been an incredibly immersive time for them, but Leonian Dream prove they have a strong and confident approach to their sound right now. Captivating production and heartfelt songwriting from start to finish, 2025 looks set to be another electrifying year for this fast-rising duo.
