Runner return with atmospheric sophomore single

Dublin post-punk outfit Runner return with their atmospheric sophomore single 'Distance', a grunge-tinged reverie that weaves 70s rock grandeur with raw, contemporary edge. Now streaming on all platforms, the track showcases a bold evolution toward alternative and shoegaze territories.

On 'Distance', gradually building guitars, driving bass, and emotive vocals meet striking chord changes and deceptively catchy melodies. Working with producer Dan Doherty (Mazzy Star, Fontaines D.C., Jesus and The Mary Chain), Runner craft immersive soundscapes that channel Rush and Pink Floyd alongside Radiohead and Nirvana influences.

"Recording this song was tough for us as a group as a lot of unneeded stress in our daily lives pushed the release out," the band shares. "But we are very excited to show our other avenues of music that we can tap into. Distance is leaning more to our alternative and shoegazey sound which we want to show our listeners. Very excited for people to hear us getting a little more experimental."

Following their accliamed debut single 'View', the new release marks an experimental chapter for Runner, blending nostalgic indie-rock with post-punk intensity—as comparable to Joy Division as it is to Oasis.
