Will Joseph Cook - 'Sweet Dreamer'

7/10

Having spent much of the last few years releasing upbeat and positive tunes via his numerous EPs, Kent-based singer-songwriter Will Joseph Cook has finally broken his first major recording milestone with the release of his highly-anticiapted debut album 'Sweet Dreamer'. And while he already had a bundle of brilliant tracks in the vault, thanks to those initial EPs, the vast majority of this new album is brand new material that manages to suit the sound of a long-play release.

While Cook did release almost half a dozen of these tracks in order to promote the new album, it is only once you have heard them back-to-back that you realise the full flow and intentions of his songwriting mind. 'Sweet Dreamer' is about creating a fresh and uplifting body of work, that when listened to, conjures up very laid-back and soothing imagery, giving the audience a pleasant and not too challenging listen.

Yet despite his very formulaic approach to direction, the use of instrumentation and production on this new release gives us a very diverse overall experience. Each track seems to want to grab your attention from the very first beat, making the record all the more enticing and enjoyable.
