Sydney Minsky Sargeant, best known as the frontman of Working Men’s Club, has unveiled 'Summer Song', the third single from his upcoming debut solo album 'Lunga', out on the 12th September.
Despite its pastoral title, 'Summer Song' carries a darker undercurrent. Over a haze of psychedelic guitars and synths, Syd delivers the line, “Come round another time / In another life / And maybe I won’t feel death’s in my stride,” reflecting on personal transformation and the desire to escape ingrained thought patterns.
Speaking on the track, Minsky Sargeant says, “It evokes the longing to be taken away from myself and the habits I once had of thinking in certain ways that felt unavoidable.”
