After first bursting onto the scene with their stunning self-titled debut album in 2018, The Magic Gang quickly found themselves as one of the more desired names in the fledgling indie-rock scene of the moment. With a bright and forward-thinking disposition, their fun and enjoyable direction saw them reintroduce us to the side of indie-rock that takes itself less seriously and focuses more on simply having a good time with their audience. And after a whirlwind couple of years, they are back once again with another dose of loveable anthems on 'Death Of The Party'.

From the very start, the band are keen to display two new avenues within their style. A flow that makes you want to get up and dance, and something far more heartfelt and meaningful. And while these two aesthetics are almost polar opposites in terms of energy and pace, there is something wonderfully captivating about how this lot pull off the two sides to the same coin. While not the full-on party record we were led to believe it would be, it certainly packs plenty of punch throughout its 48-minute runtime, giving us a welcome return to The Magic Gang's creative and progressive sound.

It may not have the same instant engagement that their debut LP had, but 'Death Of The Party' certainly gives us a far more multifaceted journey, something that their hardcore fanbase will be lapping up. Strong and driven from start to finish, this new release definitely sees them skip through the difficult second album with ease.
