Kaiser Chiefs - 'Stay Together'

3/10

Remember the Kaiser Chiefs? Remember that 'OOooooOOOOOoooHhhhhh' stuff they used to do? Yeah, remember 'Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, RUBY!' Well, they're back and they don't do any of that anymore. In fact, they haven't done any of that in a while and despite it being the main reason people remember them, they have begun to pursue a new more mature direction, even if it doesn't work that well.

Say hello to 'Stay Together', the band's sixth studio album that might as well have come from any old forgotten indie troupe. Despite Ricky Wilson's opening attempt at David Bowie on 'We Stay Together', this album is just boring from start to finish. It lacks all the aspects of fun and intrigue you would have expected from a band that has lasted as long as they have, but it just never seems to find itself in any state of joy whatsoever.

I think it is fair to say that the Kaiser Chiefs have had it. While there is still something admirable about ditching their old hang-ups to pursue something new, at least make it interesting. And with a title like 'Stay Together', it seems they probably shouldn't anymore.
