Plàsi - 'Camino'

8/10

With his latest collection 'Camino', Plàsi invites us into a quietly revelatory world, one that feels both freshly carved and deeply familiar. Across five gently unfolding tracks, the Greco-Swedish singer-songwriter offers a rich blend of acoustic warmth and understated experimentation, underscoring a personal and philosophical journey of becoming.

True to its name, 'Camino' (meaning “path” in Spanish) maps a landscape of inner travel. Each song breathes with a sense of openness, reflecting an artist who has traded the pressure of perfection for the freedom of authenticity.

Now based in Amsterdam and working out of Röda Paradise’s second studio, Plàsi has clearly embraced a more expansive palette while staying rooted in the intimacy that defines his earlier work. This evolution is clearest on 'Father’s Eyes', a track that marries rhythmic precision with emotional nuance. It’s a delicate confrontation between generations, rendered in layered acoustic textures and lyrical vulnerability. The line “You run away, but it looks like you” lands like a quiet revelation, an acknowledgment of how deeply we echo the very people we try to escape.

Elsewhere, the closing title-track brings sunlit clarity. Built on airy melodies and gently syncopated rhythms, it moves with the kind of ease that belies its emotional weight. “For now, I walk my camino,” Plàsi sings as an act of self-reminder. In a world eager to define us before we’ve had the chance to define ourselves, this track feels like a whispered act of resistance.

Throughout the EP, the production is thoughtful without being overbearing. Hannes and Linus Hasselberg help Plàsi craft arrangements that are textured yet spacious, allowing his vocal delivery to carry the emotional heft without needing to shout. The result is an EP that feels lived-in but not worn out, emotionally resonant but never cloying.

With 'Camino', Plàsi offers a quiet manifesto for creative integrity and personal truth. There’s no need for grand crescendos here. Instead, he builds a world in which the small, tender choices are the ones that matter most.
